Trooper

Trooper

Originally formed by singer/songwriter Ra McGuire and guitarist/songwriter Brian Smith as Winter’s Green, the band became Applejack and then, with the encouragement of Randy Bachman who came on board as their producer, renamed as Trooper. Legendary local agent Sam Feldman was the band’s manager as they toured far and wide becoming beloved in Canada and the US.

The list of unforgettable ‘70s and ‘80s hits is staggering but Trooper has never been an act to rest on their laurels. The band continued recording and releasing new music, finding radio and retail success with Boy With the Beat and Thin White Line from their Gold album, The Last Of the Gypsies, and The American Dream.

Recipients of the SOCAN National Achievement Award, Juno for Group of the Year, and inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and Canada’s Walk of Fame, this band helped to open the Olympics, did half-time at the Grey Cup, and has been lauded as one of Canada’s top five selling bands.
