Gerry and Ron Barre

Ron Barré grew up in the Fraser Valley. After graduating from High School in 1960 he spent 4 plus years with the Bank of Montreal. In 1964 he accepted the position as General Manager, Vancouver Ticket Centre and in 1973, he became the majority shareholder and CEO of Vancouver Ticket Centre. Along with his brother Gerry, they built the company into a nation wide enterprise with 9 offices and 800 employees across Canada that eventually became known as Ticketmaster Canada. Ron retired from Ticketmaster in 2001. He has served as a director on the boards of Science World, Ballet BC and the Hollyburn Country Club. Committed to the cultural life of BC he has served also on the Vancouver Symphony Society and Playhouse Theatre Company Marketing Boards and the “Save the Stanley” Theatre Committee.
