Carol Henriques
Carol Henriquez is the Co-Founder and former Executive Director of Vancouver’s Arts Umbrella on Granville Island. The non-profit society is a thriving visual and performing arts institute formed to provide accessible arts education to all children. Carol developed a number of programs in conjunction with other arts organizations and Arts Umbrella itself has become a model for other institutions around North America. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Manitoba, diplomas in Fine Arts from Langara College and the Vancouver School of Art (now the Emily Carr Institute) and is herself an accomplished sculptor. Carol Henriquez is a member of the Order of Canada and has received numerous awards and honours including the Commemorative Governor General’s Award, the YWCA Women of Distinction Award and the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame “Star” on Granville Street.
