Art Jones
A native Vancouverite, Art Jones worked for more than 60 years in media, marketing, advertising, broadcasting, public relations and management. His career began in the late 30s on pioneer stations CBR, CKMO and CJOR. In the 40s, he was a journalist with the Vancouver Sun and in the 50s became a film and television producer and the founding President, Chairman and Managing Director of CHAN-TV, better known as BCTV. He was also Vice-President of “Theatre Under The Stars” in Stanley Park, established Panorama and Hollyburn Film Studios and in the 1980s acquired the first Canadian Pay-TV license for BC and the Yukon. Art also served as a director of the Greater Vancouver Convention and Visitors Bureau, a Commissioner of Vancouver Civic Theatres and as Chair of the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame.
