Fanny Kiefer
Fanny Kiefer moved to Canada from Montana in 1966. She began her career in the media at CJOR in 1978 when she had the distinction of being the first woman to host her own radio talk show. For ten years she hosted programs on CKNW; she also transitioned into television as host of her own program on CBC-TV and on CKVU’s magazine show, Exposé. Named one of ‘twenty-five most influential Canadian women’ by Chatelaine magazine, Kiefer is a well-known local media personality and one of this country’s best interviewers. She continues to inform and entertain on her live program Studio 4 with Fanny Kiefer on Shaw TV. Throughout her career, thousands of people (famous and not-so) have shared their personal stories and reflections on-air with her. And, while she has found much inspiration there, none can compare with the love and support of her two daughters and the latest ‘pea in the pod,’ her first grandchild, Dayton. Kiefer is an active member of the board of directors of the BC Achievement Foundation. She was awarded a Spirit of Vancouver Award in 2005 in recognition of her contribution to local media.
