Sharman King
After graduating from the University of British Columbia in 1970, Bass Trombonist, Sharman King joined the Buddy Rich Orchestra, touring in 34 States and performing at Jazz Festivals in Newport, Monterey and Concord. Subsequently, he joined the Edmonton Symphony and taught Music Theory at the University of Calgary. Returning to Vancouver, he joined the faculties of UBC and Capilano College and is currently Bass Trombonist of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra, following his engagement with the CBC Radio Orchestra. Founder and President of Book Warehouse, his musical career flourished with appearances in over three hundred internationally distributed television programs and many CBC jazz radio shows, performing on numerous Juno award winning recordings. In 2012, he received the Mayor’s Award for Business and the Arts, and is a member of numerous arts related Boards, including the National Youth Orchestra.
