David Y.H. Lui
Internationally recognized impresario and theatrical producer, David Y.H. Lui presented thousands of dance, music and theatrical performances in Vancouver. Through the presentation of such important artists and companies as National Ballet of Canada, Martha Graham, Sadler’s Wells Royal Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Sir Yehudi Menuhin, Sir Michael Redgrave, Shirley Maclaine, Philadelphia Orchestra, Julian Bream, Cleo Laine and the Bejart Ballet of the XXth Century, he contributed significantly to the development of a sophisticated audience in Vancouver. One of the founders of Ballet British Columbia, he was also founding Artistic Director of the Canadian International Dragon Boat Festival. He was a valuable member of the Arts community, lending his expertise through consultations to government, service agencies and arts organizations and through participation on innumerable boards and committees. David was currently Chairman of VTV Community Council and a director of the Dance Foundation. David died in September 2011.
