Lorraine McAllister
Lorraine McAllister was born on April 15, 1922 in Saskatoon, Sask. Lorraine was a beautiful blonde singing star of radio and TV in 1the 950s, headlining CBC Toronto’s Holiday Ranch and Vancouver’s Burn’s Chuckwagon, Some of Those Days and her own show, Meet Lorraine. She was a popular headline performer for Theatre Under the Stars. Lorraine sang with Johnny Holmes’ orchestra with Oscar Peterson as pianist and Maynard Ferguson as lead trumpet player. She was married to successful bandleader Dal Richards and delighted the audiences for his orchestra at the Panorama Roof of the Hotel Vancouver (1950-65). A typical quote from the local paper said “One of the glamorous performers whose warmth and charm make her a favorite.” Lorraine died on April 27, 1984, in Vancouver.
