Karl Norman

A professional entertainer for 25 years and a respected manager for many more, Karl Norman spent over 48 years in the business on both sides of the footlights. As a performer he ran the gamut from drama to comedy, opera and oratorio to pops. Locally he performed with Vancouver Opera, UBC Festival of the Arts, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, CBC Radio and Television, Vancouver Little Theatre, The Vancouver Playhouse and he had 32 leading roles with the original Theatre Under the Stars. His stage and concert performances in 155 communities across the country included 5 Canada-wide tours as lead tenor. Behind the scenes Karl used his management talents with Famous Players, Basil Horsfall Opera Tours, Vancouver Opera Association and for 16 1/2 years with Overture Concerts of Canada. Christened Oswald Percival Slingsby Norman, he gained his professional name “Karl” from the role he played in The Student Prince.
