Janet Wright
Janet Wright was born in 1945 in England and moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan at a very young age. Raised in a family of theatre performers, Janet and her three siblings, Anne, John and Susan, all became successful actors. She has performed for virtually every major theatre company in Canada. Together with her two sisters, Susan and Anne, she had the opportunity to work in the play “Les Belles Soeurs” by Michel Tremblay. Janet has been affiliated with the Arts Club Theatre of Vancouver, since the early 1970’s, performing and directing in over 40 productions for that company alone, as well as productions at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario. Janet was the co-founder of ‘Persephone Theatre’ along with her late sister, Susan, who, sadly, died in a house fire in Stratford. Her substantial body of acting work in theatre and film, includes roles in “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf”, “Shirley Valentine” and “Dancing at Lughnasa” and “The Perfect Storm”. She has appeared in many television productions, gaining an Emmy award for her performance as “Emma” the long-suffering wife of Oscar, played by Eric Peterson in “Corner Gas” and who is the glue that holds this unusual family together.
